Camberwell CEO is Yorkshire's Young Director of the Year 2009
Todd Hannula, the co-founder of the Camberwell Project has been named as Young Director of the Year at the 2009 Institute of Directors (IoD) Director of the Year Awards.
Leaving behind well-paid and prestigious corporate careers to move with his wife and child from the US to Yorkshire, Hannula teamed up with three others to establish Camberwell three years ago.
Now 22-strong and with a turnover nudging 1m, Camberwell has delivered regeneration and social enterprise projects worth more than 10m. They include transforming a dilapidated Grade-II listed former school into Shine a dynamic, award-winning 4.5m enterprise centre incorporating conferencing, meeting rooms as well as pay-as-you-go business accommodation. Shine also continues to attract accolades from senior government ministers, regional business leaders and the community alike.
John Thompson, regional director for the IoD in Yorkshire & the Humber comments: This was a superb night that celebrated the outstanding achievements of some of Yorkshire's most dynamic business leaders.
This year's entries were particularly strong and I want to congratulate all those who made it onto this year's shortlist and acknowledge the success of the winners whose hard work and innovation achieves incredible results for their companies and contributes to the prosperity of this region..
The awards, which are now in their fifth year, were presented at a black tie ceremony at the Queens Hotel, Leeds, on Thursday 10 September.
